I was so excited to finally be going home to see my parents around Spring Break. I was especially excited to see my mom, who's health was declining rapidly, I wanted to get there as soon as I could so she could meet her grandkids for the first time. We also planned on surprising my mom as my husband loves surprises.

My dad, mom, sister Vickie, brother Polo, myself and husband before I left Haiti for America in May of 2016. It was bitter sweet but I was glad to be united with my husband.
But then, in the midst of our planning my mom suffered her second stroke at this time. I was devastated at this news and for a moment began to loose hope that I would not see my mom alive. My husband suggested we scratch the surprise idea and just tell her we are coming to Haiti, to give her hope. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Let me tell you, the moment we let my mom know we were coming to see her, words cannot describe the joy and happiness expressed in her heart. My mom was a brand new person. My dad said my mom's depression went away and she began eating and gaining weight. She was happy and began counting down the days til we came to see her.

In the meantime, we had to get one more passport. Our 5 month old Yah-Adele is the only one without a passport, which we had to have expressed to us, to insure we had it on time. We would be traveling with 3 small kids, all under the age of 4. We knew our travel would be a challenge but we prepared ourselves and just wanted our time as a family to be fun and memorable.
Haiti, being the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, we knew our trip would be more than just a family reunion for me. This would also be a missions trip to bring Glory to the Most High God and to help Haitian families in need. We would preached the Good News of Jesus Christ, provide encouragement, inspiration, food and essential needs to the people. Our personal budget would allow us to do this for 15 families.

Because of donations from friends and donors, we will be able to provide for 30 families, instead of the original 15. This would include food for 2-3 days plus some essential needs for each family. Prayerfully in the future, we can increase this number to 70-100 families.
Right away we have been seeing Gods hand on this trip to Haiti. My husband always says, "God blesses you because He has other people in mind. Its easy to travel to a place. Its how you leave that place is what really counts." When we leave Haiti, we pray The Most High God will be Glorified and that needs will be met. Continue to lift us up. I will come back and share with you part 3 of this amazing journey.
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
